Biography: Melissa Babcock Argrave is a Development Associate at the Louisiana State University Laboratory School. Her primary responsibility, managing volunteers in an effort to raise five million dollars for the school's first-ever Capital Campaign, is coming to a successful conclusion with over six million dollars on hand and rising. She also is responsible for Alumni Relations, including the annual U-High Homecoming Tailgate Reunion, Alumni Hall of Distinction, and Athletic Hall of Fame. She has served as President of the Greater Denham Springs Chamber of Commerce and has also chaired the YWCA Women of Achievement Program and Banquet, the Livingston Parish American Heart Association Gala, and the Livingston Parish Business Expo. She has also served on the boards of Capital Area CASA and the Arthritis Foundation. With a varied background in sales, volunteer management, training and fundraising, she has worked as a Development Associate for the American Heart Association, Marketing and Communications Director for Columbia Medical Center/Summit Hospital, Community Education Coordinator at Columbia Homecare, and Senior Campaign Associate for Capital Area United Way.

 

Chapter Responsibilities:  Schedule, create agenda for, and preside over Board Meetings and Chapter meetings; Ensure the achievement of the current Chapter objectives and the development of long-range plans by coordinating, monitoring, and coaching the performance of Chapter officers; Authorize all expenditures in excess of approved budgets; Act as the liaison for the Chapter on regional and national affairs of the American Society for Training and Development; Chair the Executive Committee; and, Serve on the Nominating Committee.

Biography: Kimberly Seeger is a learning and performance consultant who has been involved in this industry since 1990.  She began teaching as an applications trainer for ExecuTrain, Tulane, and University of New Orleans and currently instructs courses for LSU Continuing Education in Baton Rouge.   Kim has participated in many training conferences and certifications such as Bob Pike’s Creative Training Techniques, Achieve Global’s Leadership and Customer facilitation, and Microsoft Office Master Instructor.  She blends her experiences and education to develop interactive learning opportunities for each of her clients.

Kimberly holds a Master’s of Science degree in Human Resource Education and Workforce Development from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Resource Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Learning Participants include:  Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, Federal District Court – Eastern District of Louisiana & Middle District of Louisiana, Department of Social Services, Entergy, Associated Grocers and General Motors.

Kimberly has been involved with ASTD for several years.  She finds participating on the board has been both personally and professionally rewarding.  Past roles have included:  Vice President of Programming 2007 and Vice President of Publications 2006.  In 2008, Kim plans to complete her CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) certification.

 

Chapter Responsibilities:  The President-Elect shall develop and coordinate a leadership development program; coordinate the development of long-range Chapter plans; and preside over meetings in the absence of the President.

Biography: Sandy Michelet is a Senior HR Manager for The Shaw Group. She has over 15 years experience in training, management and organizational development.  She is co-owner of American Cycle Accessories and is a strong advocate for motorcycle safety. She rides a Yamaha V-Star and hosts a weekly television show, La Rider, which focuses on motorcycle riders and their destinations.  She earned her Masters in Workforce Training and Development from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Chapter Responsibilities:  The Immediate Past-President shall assure that Chapter officers fulfill requirements; serve as parliamentarian for Chapter meetings; and maintain the Chapter history.

 Biography: Julie Gaudin is the Training Coordinator for Corporate Operations at The Shaw Group. She is responsible for the scheduling, setup, and tracking of all corporate training programs. Julie also administers the Louisiana IWTP Grant and the Tuition Reimbursement program for The Shaw Group. She assists in the development and facilitation of New Employee Orientation. She earned her Bachelors in Business Management from the Southeastern Louisiana University.


Chapter Responsibilities:  The Secretary shall collect, record, and disseminate all matters of decision made by this Chapter; and maintain a source of information relative to this Chapter's functions that shall include the Constitution and Bylaws and all matters pertaining thereto.

 Biography: Carrie L. Miller, SPHR, is the Director of Human Resources for the Office of Legislative Auditor, State of Louisiana.  Prior to joining the Legislative Auditor’s staff in 1998, she had 16 years experience in non-profit management, including 12 years in the field of human resources, in Texas and Delaware.  Carrie earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Sociology from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.  She has been a member of the Society of Human Resource Management since 1992 and has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources since 1995.  Carrie is a Certified Training Professional and has earned certification as a Competent Toastmaster through Toastmasters International.

 Chapter Responsibilities:  The Treasurer shall Assume the office of President in the event that the President and President-Elect are unable to assume their roles; Prepare an annual budget; Collect and is custodian of all funds; Keep records of income and expenditures; Provide monthly financial status report to Board; Render to the membership an annual report on all financial transactions; Provide data for any audits requested by the Finance Committee; and Serve on the Finance Committee.

Biography:  Diane Mohler is a learning strategies consultant for the Center for Academic Success at Louisiana State University.  She has been involved in the area of instruction and learning strategies for the past twenty years with business and education organizations.  Throughout her professional career, she has written several successful grants, designed training, and developed programs.  Some projects/ programs include:  Adult and Continuing Education Programs, Multi-district Teacher Alliances and Mentor/Mentee Programs.  Training has included:  Middle School Instructional Programming for Certification, School Improvement Initiatives, “Enhancing Learning Through Understanding of Learning Styles”, “Beyond Academic Survival”.    Diane earned her Bachelor’s degree and Vocational Certification from Central Michigan University in Business Education, a Master’s in Educational Administration and Community Leadership, and is continuing her education in the area of cognitive psychology. She has been an active participant and board member for several business associations; American Business Women’s Association, LSU Woman’s Faculty Club, Work Education Council; and serves on the Parent Advisory Council for St. Jude’s Children Research Center.

Biography: Doug Bordelon is the employee benefits coordinator in LSU’s Office of Human Resource Management.  He is currently pursuing his doctorate at LSU in Human Resource Education, focusing on Career and Technical Education.  Doug earned his bachelors degree and both of his masters degrees from LSU.  In addition, Doug is a licensed professional counselor with over seven years of clinical experience. 


Chapter Responsibilities:  The Vice President of Hospitality shall assist with special projects identified by the Board; and provide meeting planning and hospitality services for all Chapter meetings and events.

Biography: Patsy brings over 20 years of experience and expertise as a trainer, coach, consultant, and facilitator.  She has served as a motivational speaker, conference and retreat facilitator for education, business and Christian organizations across the country, Canada, Mexico and Europe.  Currently she is President of Patsy Wilkerson & Associates, L.L.C.  Patsy and her associates provide training, consulting and facilitation services to companies and non-profit organizations, specializing in Inclusion Training, Teambuilding, Knowledge Management, Succession Planning and Strategic Planning.   Local clients include Community Coffee, Entergy, Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana Legislative Auditors, Louisiana State Office of Mental Health and Baton Rouge Community College.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in education from Southern University in Baton Rouge and a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from Biola University in La Mirada, California.

Her leadership role in Human Resources, Training and Organizational Development provides excellent experience and expertise to meet the needs of her clients.

Biography:  As the Director of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Learning Institute, Kim works with a team of professionals committed to learning, development and consultation serves that enable excellence in individual, team and organizational performance. Prior to joining BCBSLA, Kim was a Senior Performance Consultant for Advocate Health Care (Chicago, Il).  In addition to designing and implementing system and site training, she provided strategic education and development planning services to leadership and board members.  Kim's professional experience also includes serving as Principal Consultant for both Press Ganey and Parkside Associates where she guided strategic decision making for hundreds of health care organizations across the nation regarding employee and customer satisfaction measurement and improvement.  In addition, Kim has worked as a human resource analyst for DuPage County Government, specializing in training, selection and compensation. Kim earned a Master of Science degree in Organizational Development from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with Honors and an Industrial/Organizational concentration from Illinois State University.

Chapter ResponsibilitiesThe Vice President of Professional Development shall provide professional development opportunities for the membership via workshop/conference planning -- selecting speakers, coordinating marketing, and all logistical aspects of the event with committee support.  Topics are determined based on member survey via membership meetings and/or e-mail communications.

Biography: Leah Tate is the Training Specialist for Neighbors Federal Credit Union.  She is primarily responsible for developing and delivering the teller training program to new employees.  She also assists in designing and delivering all other training programs as needed by the credit union.  Prior to joining Neighbors, Leah was employed as the Training Coordinator for the Capital Area CASA program and has more than 12 years of experience in training and development. 

Leah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Education from LSU.  She is a member of St. George Catholic Church and enjoys playing tennis.

Chapter Responsibilities: The Vice President for Programs shall arrange programs for Chapter meetings; provide for professional development opportunities; arrange for facilities and equipment at all Chapter functions; ensure all chapter meeting notices are sent; and serve on the Program Committee.

Biography: Aimee graduated from LSU with a degree in Marketing with a concentration in Retail in 2002.  She has worked for CC's Community Coffee House for the past 4 years:  started as a store manager and moved to Training Coordinator for 2 years. Currently, she is the Marketing Coordinator for CC's. 

Chapter Responsibilities:  The Chapter Administrator assists the Board as needed and participates in the Leadership Council’s strategies for success. With that, the focus for 2008 is primarily to support the roles and responsibilities of the President, VP of Membership, and the VP of Technology.
