Our Vision

We are the premier workplace learning and performance organization that Eastern PA businesses and training professionals utilize to deliver exceptional business results and improve organizational excellence.

 

Our Mission

To provide expertise, solutions and opportunities that advance workplace learning, performance and change efforts in Eastern PA.  We achieve this mission through:

  • Scheduled programs, yearly conferences, and Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) that enable Workplace Learning & Performance (WLP) Practioners to expand their knowledge and develop practical skills
  • Networking among peers
  • Access to information on career opportunities in the WLP field
  • Information on trends, methods, issues and emerging technologies

Chapter History

April 29, 1962

  • Applied for charter with National ASTD
  • President: Irving R. Yeager, Western Electric
  • 8 members

May 23, 1962

  • Officer: Edward T. Servatka
  • 13 members

1969

  • Officially chartered with National ASTD
  • President: Irving R. Yeager, Western Electric
  • 20 members

1978

  • President: Paul Egehaaf, Bank America

1979 - 1981

  • President: Dr. Alec Calamidas, Penn State
  • Vice President: Gene Chommicky,
    Cement Manufacturers of America
  • Secretary: Jim Brown, Lehigh University
  • Chapter grew from 25 members to 105 members

1982 - 1983

  • President: Curt Waller, PPL
  • Board Member: Pat Feaster, Southland Corporation
  • Approximate meeting attendance: 20
  • Curt Waller and Pat Feaster married
    and transferred to Washington, DC

1984

  • President: Robert G. Clark,
    Northampton Community College
  • 100 members

1985

  • President: Sandy Orlando, Chrysler First
  • Newsletter named the Eastern PA Connection

1986

  • President: Jim Dennison, Consultant
  • Vice President: Pat Dennison
  • Treasurer: Dorothy Kaplan,
    Northampton Community College
  • Reading formed their own chapter- RATO

1987

  • President Elect: Mary Wilson, Bethlehem Steel

  • Average meeting attendance is 8 people
  • 100 newsletters circulated, 6 times per year
  • 85 members
