BPFI SIG 7/18 - Topic LMS
I am happy to say that the response to today's topic was one of the best I've ever seen!  Lutron was a fantastic host.  Thanks again to Bess and Susie for sharing their facilities and providing lunch.  We had a nice mix of people with questions about implementing an LMS and those with best practices and experience to share.

We enjoyed presentations from Mary Frances Mika and Chris Meier, Sherrie James-Hawthorne, Rick Kerner, and Bess Estrella-Aquino and Susie Minton.  There was a lot of information shared, but some of the key points I took away were:

- There is a difference between a true LMS and a Learning Content Management System, which includes training materials as well as training records.

- Be sure to include all stakeholders from the beginning.  It's easy to underestimate the impact of implementing a new system on various departments.

- Know what you need the system to do.  Prepare this list before going to the vendors so that you will find the one to best meet your needs.

- Market the changes to your company.

What did you take away from today's forum?  Did any additional questions or comments occur to you after the forum ended?

Terrific!

I agree, Rachel. I think the two most critical points covered by Sherrie and Mary Frances were:

1) Project Management (making it happen)
2) Change Management (don't forget about your customers)

Abraham Lincoln said, "Public sentiment is everything. Without it, nothing can succeed. With it, nothing can fail".
