A SIP of Innovation Learnings & Next Steps May 29. 2009
Below are the learnings and next steps identified from using Targeted Innovation
Services’ Six-step Innovation Process.
Learnings
• Employee engagement is key to overall success in any organization’s
endeavors.
• The trust-relationship interaction is important and needs to be applied to the
GCASTD.
• Perception Mapping was helpful to find problems and define what to work
on.
• Looking at problems from different points of view is valuable and helps to
expand the field.
• When in “panic mode” we “solve” the symptoms without finding or
addressing the real problem(s).
• Different channels of learning may be needed.
• A “Just in Time” learning method may be helpful to address different
traning needs of personnel.
• The goal of training should be to support organizational health.
Next Steps
The concensus was that the GCASTD is looking for greater commitment to the
group from the membership. The following next steps were proposed:
1. Find out what comittment looks like and what people will commit to.
2. Incorporate the ideas and learnings generated in the session into a member
survey
3. Incorporate the ideas and learnings generated into an email and the blog on
the GCASTD website.
4. Have workshop participants contribute to the blog.
