o Expertly applies adult learning principles/theory in design of all learning solutions types (classroom, eLearning, job aids, performance support, synchronous learning, etc.).
o Designs learning solutions that demonstrate learning is a way to drive performance improvement.
o Designs solutions that are practical/creative for the business environment.
o Demonstrates a strong command of interactive learning, defined as actively engaging a learner’s cognitive curiosity.
o Chunks, sequences, and flows content to facilitate optimal learning.
o Demonstrates excellent writing skills that are easily adapted for each learning solution type.
o Possesses intermediate/advanced skill and ability to create a visually pleasing hard-copy layout and blended solutions that use common graphic/visual elements.
o Designs/develops level 2 & 3 evaluations to measure the quality/effectiveness of learning solutions.
o Debriefs evaluation results with clients/partners and recommends improvements per agreed to maintenance cycles.
o Assists clients/partners in identifying the proper environment and support for growing/sustaining performance.
· Project Leadership/Mentoring ~25% of time
o Mentors Instructional Designers to build business acumen, customer/client skills, and more robust technical/functional expertise.
o Defines the scope/timelines for moderate/large impact learning solutions in terms of goals, objectives, deliverables, and milestones.
o Takes personal responsibility for project performance by monitoring progress and communicating to quickly resolve issues impacting quality/time/budget.
o Communicates with project team members, SMEs, stakeholders, and other Education partners in a way that builds relationships and ensures work phases are progressing per agreed to deliverables/timelines.
o Influences clients/partners to follow a course of actions, change an approach, etc.
o Uses an iterative process to frequently check with the client/target audience to get feedback/make adjustments.
· Needs Analysis/Train-the-Trainer ~20% of time
o Expert ability to identify gaps between existing/desired performance.
o Accurately identifies root causes of performance gaps and determines knowledge/skills/behaviors required to achieve desired performance.
o Develops clear, observable, and measurable learning/performance objectives.
o Makes sound recommendations and offers alternatives when non-training solutions address a performance gap more effectively.
o Thoroughly analyzes cost/benefit of various learning approaches to determine the best solution to close the performance gap while managing timelines/budget/resources.
o Clearly demonstrates trainer activities, debriefs, etc. that drive key learning/performance objectives.
o Encourages trainer creativity and personal ownership of content/program design by clearly understanding, driving and communicating the purpose/desired outcome of specific instructional strategies to encourage delivery flexibility.
· Bachelor’s degree in related fields or combination of equivalent related experiences. Masters in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Performance Technology, Adult Learning, Cognitive Sciences or similar program preferred.
o Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
o Basic/Intermediate level skills using Industry standard graphic design tools
· Minimum of 5+ years related work experience with design experience in eLearning, synchronous/asynchronous learning, and instructor lead.
· Strong consideration given for skills in print/layout design (desktop publishing tools and visual/graphic layout).
