MISSION:
The Richmond ASTD mission is to lead the community in creating opportunities for workplace learning and performance through:
- Continuous enhancement of HRD professionals skills in order to achieve organizational goals.
- Individual and career development
- Dialogue with other HRD professionals
VALUES:
- Organizational Impact: to make a difference in the business, goals, processes of our various companies, organizations, and enterprises
- Action: to incorporate a bias for action, for doing what has to be done, with the appropriate analysis, consensus, and prudence certainly, but to act
- Vision: to look ahead, to have an aspiration, to shake the status quo – all in the rigorous pursuit of acting in the real world.
- Lifelong Learning: to engage in, and to stand for, the concept of learning and improvement as a continuous, never-ending process.
- Competence: to master and use our disciplines (including the disciplines of business, process, and organizational dynamics) to stay abreast of developments in our fields.
- Engagement: to actively commit by involving oneself; to “stay in the fray”, to confront constructively; to stay grounded in pragmatic action.
- Collaboration: to work together, engage and confront each other; build networks and achieve synergy; to actively listen to each other; to empower, validate, and support one another as we work as a team.
Our Parent Organization ASTD:
The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 45,000 practitioners, managers, administrators, educators and researchers in the field of human resources development (HRD).
Founded in 1944, the Society serves as the communication link for 157 local chapters. The Society's members design and implement employee and organization development programs in a broad range of business, educational, government and service organizations. As a full service professional society, ASTD offers many tangible opportunities to it's members, including ways to enrich leadership and management skills, develop expertise on major HRD issues, and augment professional image. ASTD members are part of the world's largest organization dedicated to supporting the Training and HRD professions.
