The Greater Richmond Chapter of ASTD is a non-profit professional association serving Central Virginia practitioners, managers, administrators, educators, and researchers in the field of Training and Human Resources Development (HRD). We are part of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) located in Alexandria, Virginia, which is the world's largest organization dedicated to supporting the Training and HRD professions. Our membership consists of individuals that design and implement employee and organization development programs in all sectors of business, educational, government and service organizations.

The Richmond ASTD mission is to lead our community in creating opportunities for workplace learning and performance development. This is accomplished by providing our members opportunities to improve their individual and professional Training and HRD skills through Professional Development Forums (PDF), timely web-based Training and HRD articles, and networking opportunities with other professionals. These tangible opportunities offered by RASTD help enrich members’ leadership and management skills, develop members’ professional expertise, and augment members’ professional image.

The Richmond Chapter of ASTD places high value on providing our members the resources to make them successful in their professional goals. RASTD core values provide a vision for our profession by encouraging a lifelong learning commitment that helps our members become more competent in their profession. Additionally, RASTD core values are designed to encourage our members to master the skills that lead to more engagement, collaboration, building networks, and achieving synergy within the Training and HRD profession.

In accordance with our mission and values as a professional organization, our current year goals for the Greater Richmond Chapter of ASTD are:

• Build and increase membership by promoting our chapter within the local community
• Provide better professional development opportunities for our members by improving our professional development forums (PDF)
• Get Greater Richmond Chapter of ASTD incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
