Lisa Jensen, President

lisa.jensen@deancare.com

608-827-4178

I am currently a Learning and Development Specialist at Dean Health Plan.

I teach and/or coordinate the New Employee Training Program, including computer application training, soft skills training, and orientation. I coordinate writing workshop vendors, coordinate online training classes, and update the department website.

My goals for ASTD include creating a succession plan for all board positions and having all the board members attend the ASTD Leaders Conference held in the fall.

I like to travel and have visited a few countries in Europe. I had a memorable experience in London, England when my mom and I rode the London Eye (the large Ferris wheel that is across the street from Parliament and Big Ben) just as it was getting dark and all the lights of the city came on. It was amazing to be there with her and watch one of my favorite cities sparkle at night. I’ll never forget that experience!

Steve King, President-Elect

sking@meriter.com

608-417-5944

I am currently the Manager of Learning and Development at Meriter Health Services.

I am responsible for all staff development opportunities, including new employee orientation and leadership development programs.   I design, develop and deliver internal courses.   I am involved with and coordinate a number of organizational development initiatives.

One of my goals while on the Board of Directors is to further expand partnership opportunities with other professional organizations in Madison.

My first year at graduate school at the UW, I was in a very small group that met with Jimmy Carter when he was here to deliver a campus address.   We had a remarkable conversation about a variety of topics.   He made several very persuasive points which continue to influence how I live and interact with others.

Stephanie Drum, VP Administration

I am currently a Learning Services Program Lead at Employment Resources, Inc.

I develop the learning program for benefits specialists who serve people with disabilities in Wisconsin.  Additionally, I work to offer training, technical assistance, and direct services to people who have disabilities and professionals working with people who have disabilities.

My goal while on the Board of Directors is to see an increased awareness of ASTD-SCWC.

A few years ago I traveled with a friend visiting National Landmarks, parks and cities.  We traveled 7, 000 miles in three weeks.  It was amazing to see so much of the US at once.  I can’t wait to do it again!

Rachel DeMuth, VP Finance

502-301-1253

I am currently a Learning Consultant at Humana.

I currently service the Small Business sales associates within Humana.  I help to assess training needs, identify performance gaps, and develop programs to help our new associates get up to speed as soon as possible, and teach our existing associates new technology, processes and procedures.   One of my goals for the future is to create a more formalized development process for our associates.

My goals for ASTD are to establish a sound budget for both the operation of ASTD-SCWC and the implementation of programming.  In order to make ASTD-SCWC a sustainable, valuable organization for learning and development associates in the area, it is necessary for us to pursue partnerships, alternative forms of income generation, and research alternative program and membership pricing structures.

Just as I was beginning my job at Humana, I was completing the Janesville Leadership Development Academy.  The class was nine months long and exposed us to many community leaders and initiatives. We met monthly to learn about job opportunities, services, and resources for disadvantaged populations, community leadership and volunteerism, and how to become strong leaders in our community.  These monthly sessions exposed us to many wonderful people and put a face to the programs the community provides.  Personally memorable was the retreat that began the class.  Part of the retreat was a high ropes course – challenging, exhilarating, and frightening!

Paul Margala, VP Marketing

608-212-2783

I am currently an Assistant Director at the Diocese of Madison.

As the VP Marketing through different marketing efforts, I establish ASTD-SCWC as a premiere learning and development resource for Southern Wisconsin.

Two of my 2008 goals while on the Board of Directors are to bring a higher quality of programming to the chapter along with a wider base of programming topics.

Volunteering on the Board of Directors has been an interesting experience for me. It is exciting to see the dedication by the board on trying to bring the highest level of quality programming and resources to chapter members and the community.

Nikki Zorman, VP Membership

nikki.zorman@uniekinc.com

608-849-9999 x288

I am currently a Customer Service Representative at Uniek, Inc.

I handle customer service for large and small retailers nationwide. I also deliver customized new hire training relative to the company software program. (As specific as possible taking into account how those new employees will interact with that software on a daily basis as they fulfill their job requirements)

One of my goals while on the ASTD Board of Directors is to increase chapter membership above and beyond the recommendations of ASTD National.  My second goal is to increase my own exposure to and understanding of additional training methods that will allow me to present an even more meaningful learning experience for my audiences.

Each experience I have is memorable in its own way…One of the highlights though had to be the glee with which our HR Director entered a customer order during the course of the training in which he was sitting…

I am currently a Learning Consultant at Humana.

I consult with internal business partners to design and deliver learning solutions.  My passion is learning technologies and I have become a learning technology liaison for multiple departments within Humana. Recently, I have worked with others to start a Gaming and Learning Consortium within the Humana learning community.

My goal while on the Board is to provide quality professional development programs that are relevant to our membership and touch on each of the ASTD core competencies.

Steve Madalinski, VP Technology

smadalin@amfam.com

608-843-6225

I am currently a Media Specialist at American Family Insurance in Madison.

I design and develop training, marketing and communication tools using a variety of electronic mediums. The end products range from electronic audio messages, interactive CD/DVDs, websites, event presentations to electronic job-aids. In March of 2009, I will complete a Masters degree in Training and Performance Improvement which has greatly enhanced my understanding of the HPT field.

My goal while on the Board of Directors is to continue developing the ASTD-SCWC website to be a great resource for current and potential members of the ASTD community. I also hope to bring my background in electronic media development to support the Board’s goal of expanding the South Central Wisconsin Chapter membership base.

In my ever shrinking spare time, I like to play sports with my three boys and go camping whenever possible. A few of our favorite spots are Governor Dodge State Park, Devil’s Lake State Park and Copper Falls State Park.
