Steve King, President

sking@meriter.com

608-417-5944

I am currently the Manager of Learning and Development at Meriter Health Services.

I am responsible for all staff development opportunities, including new employee orientation and leadership development programs.   I design, develop and deliver internal courses.   I am involved with and coordinate a number of organizational development initiatives.

One of my goals while on the Board of Directors is to further expand partnership opportunities with other professional organizations in Madison.

My first year at graduate school at the UW, I was in a very small group that met with Jimmy Carter when he was here to deliver a campus address.   We had a remarkable conversation about a variety of topics.   He made several very persuasive points which continue to influence how I live and interact with others.

Susannah Rockman, President Elect

susannahjrockman@gmail.com

608-609-9597

I am currently a Learning Technology Consultant at Humana.

My primary role with Humana is to consult with internal business partners to design and deliver learning technology solutions.  My passion for technology continues to grow as I discover new ways to utilize various mediums and tools to create and deliver effective learning solutions.

My goal as President Elect is to continue to serve our membership effectively and provide valuable opportunities for us to connect with each other. While learning the role of President, I welcome discussions with our membership on what is valuable to you and how we can best meet your needs as learning professionals.

I’m very excited to serve on the board in 2009; it will certainly prove to be an exciting year.

Lisa Jensen, Past President

lisa.jensen@deancare.com

608-827-4178

I am currently a Learning and Development Specialist at Dean Health Plan.

I teach and/or coordinate the New Employee Training Program, including computer application training, soft skills training, and orientation. I coordinate writing workshop vendors, coordinate online training classes, and update the department website.

My goals for ASTD include creating a succession plan for all board positions and having all the board members attend the ASTD Leaders Conference held in the fall.

I like to travel and have visited a few countries in Europe. I had a memorable experience in London, England when my mom and I rode the London Eye (the large Ferris wheel that is across the street from Parliament and Big Ben) just as it was getting dark and all the lights of the city came on. It was amazing to be there with her and watch one of my favorite cities sparkle at night. I’ll never forget that experience!

Stephanie Drum, VP Administration

drum@eri-wi.org

608-246-3444 ext. 229

I am currently the Education & Outreach Director for Employment Resources, Inc.

I develop the learning program for benefits specialists who serve people with disabilities across the State of Wisconsin.  Additionally, I offer training, technical assistance, and direct services to people who have disabilities and professionals working with people who have disabilities. My goal while on the Board of Directors is to increase membership identity with the chapter.

I have recently started collaborating on a project with individuals from other organizations to create a hybrid learning course for benefits specialists in Wisconsin.  I have enjoyed the experience and continue to learn a lot.  It has been a great experience, and I am exited to continue enhancing the project.

Rachel DeMuth, VP Finance

rachellfd@yahoo.com

502-301-1253

I am currently a Learning Consultant at Humana.

I currently service the Small Business sales associates within Humana.  I help to assess training needs, identify performance gaps, and develop programs to help our new associates get up to speed as soon as possible, and teach our existing associates new technology, processes and procedures.   One of my goals for the future is to create a more formalized development process for our associates.

My goals for ASTD are to establish a sound budget for both the operation of ASTD-SCWC and the implementation of programming.  In order to make ASTD-SCWC a sustainable, valuable organization for learning and development associates in the area, it is necessary for us to pursue partnerships, alternative forms of income generation, and research alternative program and membership pricing structures.

Just as I was beginning my job at Humana, I was completing the Janesville Leadership Development Academy.  The class was nine months long and exposed us to many community leaders and initiatives. We met monthly to learn about job opportunities, services, and resources for disadvantaged populations, community leadership and volunteerism, and how to become strong leaders in our community.  These monthly sessions exposed us to many wonderful people and put a face to the programs the community provides.  Personally memorable was the retreat that began the class.  Part of the retreat was a high ropes course – challenging, exhilarating, and frightening!

Tracy Nelson , VP Marketing

(608) 243-5000, ext. 2842

I am pleased to be serving as Vice President of Marketing for our chapter.  My goal is to reach out and raise awareness in the training and learning community of the many benefits and professional development opportunities available through ASTD!

I currently serve as Vice President of Training and Organizational Development for Summit Credit Union.  In addition to overseeing all employee and management training, my role also entails creation and implementation of a strategy for continuous learning and process improvement with a goal of identifying best practices and enhancing our organizational effectiveness.

I love being in the Workplace Learning and Performance arena because I strongly believe that what we do makes a difference!  We have tremendous opportunity to have positive impact across the board from enhancing individual performance to overall organizational performance.  Being in this field allows us to play, have fun, be creative, and still create measurable results for our employees and our organization.

Belonging to ASTD means you have an opportunity to network with fun, creative, and outgoing professionals who are anxious to learn from each other and continue to grow and develop.  I welcome and encourage anyone with a passion for workplace learning and performance to get involved in our local chapter.

Our programs range from training for new tellers and lenders to advanced job skill training.

My goal while on the Board is to provide a variety of high quality programs to meet the needs of those new to training as well as seasoned trainers.

I am currently pursuing my MBA at Edgewood College. Lifelong learning is a personal passion and I look forward to completing my degree in 2011.

Steve Madalinski, VP Technology

smadalin@amfam.com

608-843-6225

I am currently a Media Specialist at American Family Insurance in Madison. I design and develop training, marketing and communication tools using a variety of electronic mediums. The end products range from electronic audio messages, interactive CD/DVDs, websites, event presentations to electronic job-aids. In June of 2009, I will complete a Masters degree in Training and Performance Improvement which has greatly enhanced my understanding of the HPT field.

My goal while on the Board of Directors is to continue developing the ASTD-SCWC website to be a great resource for current and potential members of the ASTD community. I also hope to bring my background in electronic media development to support the Board’s goal of expanding the South Central Wisconsin Chapter membership base.

In my ever shrinking spare time, I like to play sports with my three boys and go camping whenever possible. A few of our favorite spots are Governor Dodge State Park, Devil’s Lake State Park and Copper Falls State Park.
