Monthly Meeting - Supervisor Support for Training

DHCU (1900 52 Ave, Moline, IL)
2/10/2010 12:00 PM

“To feel successful, I need to feel like I’m always moving.  I don’t mean moving up, but…learning.”
In the midst of downsizing, business closures and multiple generations in the workforce, it is imperative for supervisors to rethink their role in encouraging professional development and training for their employees.

Tony Franklin, County Extension Director, will present a compelling case on the value of supervisor support for employee training.  Participants will have an opportunity to work on their own professional development plan, and be motivated to provide on-going support for employee training.

Tony Franklin received his Associates of Science Degree from Glenville State College in Glenville, WV; Bachelors of Science in Education and Masters of Science in Physical Education (concentration in Sports Administration) from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM.

Prior to accepting the County Extension Director position in 2001, he worked at Knox College for five years in the capacity of Associate Dean of Students where he served as Intercultural Life Director, Chief Conduct Officer, Leadership Development Coordinator, and New Student Orientation Coordinator.

Tony is a Certified Diversity Facilitator and Certified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI).  He is also a certified facilitator for FranklinCovey 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Signature Program.

In recognition of his significant and positive contributions to further the cause of human relations and promoting racial and ethnic harmony within the Galesburg community, he was the 2003 recipient of Galesburg's Human Relations Award.

In 2007 Tony was awarded the Distinguished Leader of the Year Award by Leadership Greater Galesburg; and the Outstanding Vocational Community Service Leader Award for the first quarter of 2007-2008 year by the Galesburg Noon Rotary Club.

As County Extension Director for the Knox County Unit, Tony provides leadership for program development and evaluation, marketing, volunteer and employee development, and fiscal accountability.
