Michelle Sterling, CPLP 

Description of Speaker

Michelle is the Founder and President of building b: solutions in Scottsdale, Arizona, a Partner at EPICO learning collaborative in San Diego, CA, and a partner at the REALeadership Alliance, in San Diego, CA.  She also authors the leadership blog “The Breakroom” which provides thought-provoking ideas for getting more out of work and life.
 
Michelle’s expertise is in helping leaders use training to orchestrate organizational culture transformations.  Integrating employee training, internal communications and brand strategy, Michelle develops solutions that measurably improve business results, increase customer loyalty, and enhance employee engagement and productivity.
 
Michelle’s philosophy centers on developing responsible and sustainable strategies, programs and processes that make a positive difference in the lives of an organization’s employees, customers and vendors, and in the communities in which they operate.
 
Michelle has over 18 years of senior level Training & Development experience and has held leadership roles in a broad range of industries such as financial services, automotive, and hospitality.  She was one of the first 100 people internationally to receive ASTD’s Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) designation.  Michelle continues to be very involved in providing continuing education to Training and HR professionals, both in her local community and as a speaker at national ASTD and SHRM conferences.
 
Michelle obtained her B.A. in Organizational Communication and M.S. in Training & Human Resource Development from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  She lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Organizations are increasingly recognizing the value of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in the workplace.  But to move the impact of these efforts beyond those of a public relations or volunteering event, it is critical that leaders be trained how to strategically approach CSR for sustainable innovation and organizational growth.  This program will define CSR and provide insights on how to link training as a vital leader in your organization’s CSR efforts.

 

          Understand the history of CSR and how it is impacting our choices as consumers and employees, and our roles as leaders

 

          Maximize employee engagement by practicing the REALeadership model

 

          Use a new business model to innovate strategies that leverage brand value and produce long-term sustainable results

 

          Recognize when, where, and how to take action and contribute to building a worthwhile legacy
