Employee Learning Week is an awareness campaign highlighting the important connection between learning and achieving organizational results. Employee Learning Week takes place in December each year, but learning is a year-round event! Employee Learning Events can happen anywhere. Hold events in your office, plan a special off-site program, or send highlighted Employee Learning tips during the week.

“Facilitative Learning: Expect the Best”

An emerging strategy that is changing corporate training from being trainer-centered to being learner-centered is facilitative learning. Facilitative Learning is used by workplace learning professionals to promote experienced-based learning and participative involvement by learners in their own education and development. It is also an effective tool for facilitating meetings, running workshops and guiding collaborative team projects.

Join us for our next Community of Practice where we will identify the opportunities for facilitative learning in the workplace and explore its practical application.

During this discussion, we will explore:

The advantages of facilitative learning.

The difference between training and facilitative learning.
The personal facilitation core competencies.

Community of Practice - Call for Presenters!

ASTD-VOS seeks local (Phoenix-area) training and development professionals to be presenters for Community of Practice meetings. We look for presentations that meet the following criteria:

A skill, tool or concept is introduced (usually related to the training profession).
An explanation of how the skill, tool or concept can be applied on the job is provided.
Hands-on application (practice) for the audience of the skill, tool or concept.
Resource list or handout participants may take away from the presentation.

Previous presentation experience is not necessarily required. We encourage this to be a two-way learning event for the audience and presenter. Contact Quincy Conley at 480-338-8999 or astd@vos.astd.org.

Community of Practice Meetings (CoP):

Community of Practice meetings (CoPs) are free monthly events that provide you with “quick hit” knowledge and skills in a specific area related to training and development. In addition, CoPs provide a fun informal setting for networking with local training professionals.

These meetings are open to the public for free. Anyone and everyone is welcome, you don't have to be a member of ASTD to attend.
