If you are a Boomer you'll probably remember Speedy Gonzalez, the fastest mouse in the West. Today, we have an entirely new concept of mice as not-so-pesky varmits, arguably a much better fit in our functional worlds.
It's hard to imagine what the next wave of interactivity, emerging already through Web 2.0 applications, will require of traning and development specialists.
It would seem that workforce and workplace strategies require retooling and Web 2.0 applications are becoming the tools of choice.
Whether we are running fron the past or toward the future, we're sure to recognize the power that Social Media, Learning and Web 2.0 features provide in creating and managing change.
How do we possibly keep up with the training and development necessary, let alone apply it toward learning and performance? Planning and strategies seem to change at light speed like data packets spiraling through the glass tubes of this continuing experiment called the Internet.
Brave pussycats, aka T & D professionals on the prowl with purpose, scratch, sniff and chase after the challenges in bringing Web 2.0 applications to the workplace as learning and performance enhancing tools.
Social Learning is indeed a trend we need to recognize. The challenge is to determine the deliverables with metrics to manage as we strive for the purrfect solution.
Relationships grow as stakeholders take on a natural ownership of the production process because they are engaged in it. When it works results are engaged people who produce more with better quality and need less supervision.
What are your experiences and ideas of how to use Social Learning and Web 2.0 applications as workplace learning and peformance enhancers?
Do you have proven strategies that can help others? Please share some tidbits.
How can we (ASTD-VOS) support your vision of the future in training and development?
Where do you see the future of training and development for learning and performance going and how can we help you prepare for the journey?
I believe that as a collective (ASTD-VOS membership), collaboration is key in the roll-out of Web 2.0 technologies as manageable methodologies for enhancing performance and perhaps greater collaboration in community affairs.
Any ideas for developing local resources?
The ASTD-VOS Web 2.0 interactive conference might just be the ticket. No need to get thrown under the bus any more. Have laptop, will travel.
The cat's out of the bag and trying to shoot the tube but he won't catch Speedy Gonzalez, the fastest mouse in the West. Seems like there is a whole new generation of them now, having chewed the cheese down to micro-blogging. Eek!
Kudos to those that figure out how get the cheese and eat it too!
Arriva! Arriva!
