ABOUT THE PRESENTER (View Dr. Williams Website)

Dr. Greg Williams has more than 25 years of experience as a faculty member, instructional designer, project manager, and consultant in education, business, and the federal government. He currently serves as the director of University of Maryland, Baltimore County graduate program in instructional systems development, and also teaches in the program, as clinical assistant professor. Dr. Williams has consulted with a variety of organizations including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and the University of Maryland - School of Medicine.

About the Program:
A career portfolio is a powerful professional development tool that communicates and demonstrates your knowledge, skills, and abilities in ways that a résumé cannot.  It offers a unique way to distinguish yourself from other professionals and can be especially useful in a difficult job market.

Over the next few years, the need for career portfolios will likely increase; you may be required to demonstrate your value to your current employer or to search for a new job in the training field.  In fact, many training jobs will require applicants to submit portfolios that include such artifacts as videos of a successful training session or an online posting of original multimedia tutorials.

This workshop will use interactive exercises and discussion to will help you begin preparing your own career portfolio. Plus, it will give you answers to questions such as:

·         What should go in my portfolio?

·         What is the most effective way to organize my portfolio?

·         How do I get results from my portfolio?

·        How do I use my portfolio to demonstrate mastery of competencies to an employer?

Besides the 3-hour workshop, a light buffet breakfast will be available and each attendee will receive the ASTD Infoline “Build Your Training Portfolio” authored by Greg Williams.

Don’t wait until you are looking for a job to create a career portfolio, the time to start is now!

     Liberty Bridge in downtown Greenville
Liberty Bridge is an impressive design by architect Miguel Rosales of Boston, Massachusetts. Reaching 355-feet across Reedy River falls, it's a curved pedestrian suspension bridge with spectacular views of the waterfalls and gardens of Reedy River Historic Park, in downtown Greenville, SC. Secured into the earth at each end, the bridge is suspended by only two columns standing at an angle of 15-degrees.
